PROGRAM UPDATES

Gathering on the Huangpu River for the Fellowship of the Same Path

Glittering city lights and colors illuminated the night of July 13, 2018. Class 16 and Class 17 WashU-Fudan EMBA students attended a long expected and high anticipated mixer party, which took place on the scenic Pudong Bund.
Before the event, Class 17 students had just finished their third class of the program, and Class 16 had gone for a company visit to Schindler Group’s office, organized by the class committee. After a day of intense learning and activities, everyone came together in high spirits. The alumni chatted about their careers and life, and moreover, their wonderful friendships over the years, created through studying and learning together.

At the beginning of the event, Professor Zhiwen YIN, Associate Dean of Fudan University School of Management, came to meet the students and encouraged the students to build great friendships from the event. Paul SHAO, Managing Director of the WashU-Fudan EMBA Program, warmly welcomed the students and said, "the program will build and provide everyone platforms for frequent communication." Professor Markus Baer, who flew in from the United States to teach the program, also joined the event after a long day of teaching.

Additionally, Class 17 students Leon Li and Issac LIAN both provided great support for this event. Its success can be accredited to their enthusiasm for the class.

In order to encourage students to know each other better, about 100 of them from the two classes were split into groups on six yachts for a night tour. On the tour, the students enjoyed drinks and socialized—often with laughter—and many said that this was their most unforgettable night tour of the Huangpu River.

The WashU-Fudan EMBA Program has been active in creating a wide variety of social platforms for students and alumni, in the hopes of bringing the students and alumni a different EMBA experience. Amazing events, like the Huangpu River night tour, are just some of the unique experiences its students and alumni will remember forever.
